Born 1922

Albury

"Count your blessings"

Cath Thompson valued family most and considered herself fortunate to have had three children who provided her with grandchildren, her 'secret' to a full life.

Cath loved to help others and took inspiration from this work (including time spent nursing for the airforce during the second world war), and from her experiences with country people who accepted you "as you were".

When I photographed Cath she was living in a retirement home in Coolamon, population 1,589, where she had moved in 1995. She had had her heart set on Canada at this time but this was put on hold due to her father's ill health. He went on to live for years and Cath never did get to Canada, still she considers her time spent in this small rural town the most memorable of her life.
